On the long weekend in August, I joined the 5enses artists in a 10ft x 20ft tent at the annual Harmony Arts Festival’ Art Market in West Vancouver. Although the rain drizzled down on us as we set up on the Friday, the rest of the weekend was beautiful and hot!
Saturday seemed to be the day art lovers crowded our stall seeking out new works for their walls. We met loads of interested shoppers and answered many questions about our individual techniques and works.
Sunday and Monday were also hot and sunny (lucky for us there were giant cedars in front of our stall) and many people passed through our tent, though it seemed they were mostly browsers. One couple, who had lived in Bermuda, connected with my turquoise series and bought a little trio of paintings…connecting with them “made my day”!!
Monday night we dismantled the tents to the distant music of Tequila Mockingbird, and Tuesday I visited another couple’s beautiful new house and helped them choose some paintings for their white walls. They happily settled on buying 2 of my large paintings, one for the living room and one for the bedroom!
And then Thursday night I was invited to exhibit my work on the pier at John Lawson Park during an Odlum Brown Appreciation cocktail party.
