Finally feels like spring is here and flowers are everywhere!
On Thursday I went to my friend Shirley William’s first solo show where flowers (and nests) were beautifully rendered in oils and acrylics and buyers were buzzing everywhere! Here is a sample!
At home, my husband is the one with the green thumb, creating a patchwork of color against a backdrop of textured and multi-tonal greens. On the weekend we both volunteered at Art In The Garden and sunbathed in the beauty of Rudi Pinkowski’s Mediterranean-inspired garden while admiring the eclectic pottery of Liz de Beer, Doris Biddle‘s florals and Alan Maples‘ stunning photography. It was a relaxing and most enjoyable way to spend the day! Here is Alan’s Navajo Sister which he proudly sold on Saturday!
Then yesterday it was time to carefully pack up my flower series to send it off to Montreal. Afternoon Delight (at top of blog post) has been accepted into the 2nd Annual Brush Off Competition hosted by the Avenue Art Gallery in Old Montreal. An exciting first for me to have something showing in my hometown! And so while visiting I decided to host a little house party showing the rest of the series at my brother’s so family and friends can have a peak up close at what I do out West! Funny thing was that as I bought the box and was getting the work organized, a friend said “Wait, before you send it away, I’d like to buy this one!!”
So after a rather rainy and dull winter and early spring…seems like the buds are blooming and happy people are smiling! How are your flowers showing?
